How to keep your home’s energy bright, calm and grounded between my visits. Twenty minutes, a few pantry staples, nothing to buy.

Open the sliders for a 15-minute cross-breeze
Before you touch a broom, let the closed-up, air-conditioned air move out toward the coast and bring fresh air in.

The Atlantic sea-salt rug sweep
Sprinkle fine sea salt and a little dried rosemary over your rugs 20 minutes before vacuuming to lift odors and settle the room.

Spark a solar simmer pot
Simmer sliced oranges, two cinnamon sticks, a sprig of rosemary and three whole cloves in water on low heat. Top up the water as it reduces, and never leave it unattended.

Ring out the corners
Heavy, stagnant energy likes to pool in dark corners and hallways. Walk through with a bell, a singing bowl or a few crisp hand-claps to break it up.

Seal the threshold
Wipe your front door frame and slider tracks with warm water and a few drops of rosemary and sweet orange oil. If you have cats or birds, use plain warm water and a sprig of fresh rosemary instead.
